I think that is exactly what is needed.

it would be folly to get rid of Capello. He isn't the root problem, it would cost the a fortune and whoever takes over would have even less to work with and thus will be even more pilloried in two years time.

Also interesting to see that of all the teams remaining there are hardly any Premier League players. Best league in the world? It can't be, one of the best players in our league is only good enough to sit on the Spanish bench.

I was thinking this today - while the stars of the Spanish & Italian leagues seem to be doing OK, all the stars of the premiership have been rubbish. Look at the stars of the English big four - Rooney was awful, Terry and Lampard were awful, Gerrard was awful and Torres is playing like a dog, Fabregas can't even get In the Spanish starting 11. Compare that to Messi or Higuan or Milito or Luis Fabiano... Suggests to me that pretty much all the 'stars' of the premier league may well be utterly overhyped, not just the English ones.

Want to know why England won't succeed until we change the way we teach football? Look how Sergio Ramos (the sodding right back for pity's sake) controlled a chipped pass on 55 minutes of this match. It was like his boots had glue on them. Our only 'world class' player didn't trap a ball that well all tournament.

Torres off, hardly ever looked like scoring tbh.

True. Yes, I maybe disagreed with some of his tactics but you look at other sides and the good players are versatile.

Spain 1 up. Maybe now Portugal will kick into gear.

Bad tactics by the Portugese. I don't think I heard Ronaldo's name at all in the 2nd half. They started to play with about 10 minutes to go but by then it was too late.

I reckon it will be a Uruguay/Argentina final. I hope so, I've backed them both. :D

Edit: Interesting comments I heard today. We have good players but they're just not tactically bright. That fits well actually, the Germans just looked more intuitive on the ball as do the other teams left in the competition.

As for the photo today, well, a few days ago there were calls for Capello to let the players drink. I have no problem with that. As for Ashley Cole, if that message is true ('I hate England and the people') it wouldn't surprise me, he's a twat on several levels.

I wonder what odds you can get on Beckham becoming manager in the next 10 years?

Nah, you can never have too much build-up to an England-Wales match, whatever the sport.

Brazil 1-0 Holland.

A better match than I was worried it may be.

By no means a classic though. I was enjoying the tennis semi-final more, to be honest.
