TheFrenchun voiced her complaints.

Mark

I voiced the fact that Bratty uses it to create argument. I have no problem with the symbol itself.

Do you really need a list of what would be considered offensive material for a public forum that aims for a family friendly readership?
Really?

Mark

If the star of david is going to cause offence to some and kick off a full blown thread then I would say maybe. If it's been taken out of context and the original objection was to the swastika and everything else that followed partly a misunderstanding then no.

Personally I would use my own common sense and judgement but I can see (due to this thread) why the question is being raised.

No dude. you misunderstand me. I asked a question, you answered me. I then responded. Do you think something about the "community" should be put in the rules?

I was merely stating that there were two distinct issues, in response to your question. Doesn't mean I haven't had a satisfactory answer from you on the second one.

I didn't however realise we were aiming at family friendly readership. Nor would I understand that to mean certain avatars are not allowed, unless they involve pictures of sex, violence or other illegal acts.

I think it's fair to say that recently Bratty has been making deliberate attempts to cause a stir and get some sort of reaction out of people.

Some people may have reacted harshly to this morning’s (evening for me) stupidity (that's what it is, in my opinion) but this could be a build up of recent annoyances at Bratty.

I am personally of the opinion that if something could be offensive to any reasonable person, then we should consider action against whatever this may be. As Mark has already stated, we do discuss things before action is taken and we don't have a 'blanket' rule for everything (except the obvious, you wouldn't put a naked picture of a woman as your avatar, for example), therefore I think it's un-necessary to discuss posting a list of acceptable material or discuss this further.

This isn't a high maintenance forum and I'd like to keep it that way, so, if Bratty wants to wind people up, that’s fine. Within reason. If people want to react, then that's also fine. Within reason.

I'm of the opinion though, that you shouldn't feed trolls; it causes them to grow.

Cheers!

Oh, as always, any questions or problems with the above, please PM me. :)

Right, so we're all agreed that Bratty's new, new avatar causes no offence?

After Al's wonderfully observed, comedic YT link could I request that a mod lock this thread?

You can go about your business etc....
