Just looked up at the window, and lo! Tiny flakes of snow drift lazily down.

I'm now wondering how much snow has to fall before they close down college, and whether we'll get that much...

Quite a lot, if earlier this year was anything to go by. They didn't close us down until the roads were effectively impassable. I'd say a good 4 inches plus.

Weird night/early morning. A bit of snow, hail, and thunder and lightning. A big lightning flash this morning as well. Freaked the GF out, she's used to thunderstorms every summer in Finland but that's when it's windy, rainy and warm. She's never known thunder and lightning in the quiet of winter when there's snow about. Anyhoo, snow just started again.

All we have is compacted light snow from days ago, and slightly newer frost as far as I can see I like the way it keeps the walkers and cyclists out of my path as I stride along in my big size 12 Caterpillar boots though

+1. All of the thunderstorms that I've experienced have been during the warmer climate usually around August/September. A few at other times. Never experienced one during winter with snow everywhere. Yesterday, I thought I was going to experience one. There was definitely some thunder, but nothing else - no rain/snow/lightning/wind. Nothing.

It snowed for about 30 minutes here, and hasn't restarted... yet. There is virtually no snow on the roads, so I'm guessing I'll probably be going to work on Wednesday.

Thinking about it I don't think I've ever experienced it before. I only heard the thunder last night but this morning there was a roll of thunder and then the whole room lit up. It's so much more effective when it's snowy outside. * waits for Mark's 'Poidh' *

It's not snowing until it's up to your shins.

We had a light dusting yesterday. Overnight we had a couple of cm.
Spent about half an hour clearing snow from the drive and pavement this morning, so running late.
Got an e-mail from one of the secretaries, looks like they are expecting me to drive one of the directors' cars to the garage to get the tyres changed... Driving a strange car, with summer tyres, in heavy snow? I don't think so!

Bit of a dusting in Lancashire as well. Looks pretty but not enough to stop me getting to work, sadly. Probably is enough to make the commute even worse than normal though...
