Usually they need some proof of address - did you change the V5 for your car, you must have a car insyrancecertifucate for your current address. Those should do.

All my car documents have the mortgaged house address on them. I haven't changed them because until just very recently there was a chance of me moving back there.

What about utility bills from your current house/flat? Does it even need to be proof of address showing the mortgaged property, why not use your (rented?) property for the new bank account?

I've gotten away with one bill and a medical card in the past, and I've also used my electoral ID for photo-proof

Forgive my thickness if I'm missing something, but I don't think it matters what address you have for the bank account. When I worked at Natwest (and that was several years ago) the crucial thing would've been that it was in your sole name. What am I missing??

If Mark pays his money inot a Santandar Bank and he has his mortgage then they will have the right to use any monies in his name ( sole or joint). hence pay it inot another bank

Open an account with smile.co.uk (the internet spin-off of the co-operative bank), no ID required.

That's where the statements would be sent... If I were getting divorced the last thing I'd want is my ex-to-be seeing that!

Check on one of those credit checking sites to see if the other half is dragging down your credit rating. Also. send me your CV, depending on a couple of things in the next week we may have some openings coming up.
