Morning all.

Just wondering if I can upgrade my amplifier in the next couple of months. Hmm.

Morning all,

Just realised that I am holding this laptop at a funny angle, and now my neck hurts...

Going to write Mrs. V. an I.O.U. as it's her birthday today, and I simply can't afford to get her anything until I get paid, next week.

By the way, breakfast in bed is not an option either, (as well as a present I mean, not instead of!) as she as to take a tablet on Sunday, and after taking in she can't lie down for 30 minutes... and she has to take it on an empty stomach...

Oh well, back to it, I suppose... whatever "it" is... so, for now...

Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

:)

Snow here in sunny Peterborough but it's stopped now. Doesn't look like it'll be melting any time soon mind.

Have a good one folks.

Good afternoon all. Just been to the Farmers' market and am the proud owner of some venison hearts, does anyone have any idea on how to cook them? :)

Slice them across the muscle i.e. so the that if you hold the heart vertically by the aorta, the cuts would be horizontal

Sweat some onions in a saucepan.

In a frying pan heat some oil until near flash point. Flash-fry sliced heart to seal the muscle. Transfer heart to saucepan and stir.

Heat frying pan again and quickly fry some sliced mushrooms - wild mushrooms are lovely but closed-cap will do nicely as well. Transfer to saucepan.

Add sliced spring onion, leek and sliced salad pepper

Allow to sweat for 30 minutes

Add 1/3 pint Lamb stock per heart. Allow to simmer.

Add

2 tsp Molasses sugar (brown will do),
2 tsp dark jam (plum/damson are best but raspberry is good),
1-2 tsp grated dark chocolate
2 tsp Oregano
1 tsp Sage
Black pepper to taste
Red wine to taste

Allow to thicken - add 1-2 tbsp lentils to thicken if rushed

Serve with boiled White potatoes and steamed brocolli.

Drinks to accompany -

Red Wine - Full-bodied Bordeaux is best, strong Merlot can also work
Beer - Dark bitter (e.g. Theakston's Old Peculier) or Dark Lager (e.g. Köstritzer, Erdinger Dunkel)

Chop them finely, add to a pan of boiling water, boil gently until cooked through, add to a bowl containing 2 handfuls of rice crispies, when the rice crispies have soaked up all the water, mix thoroughly and place carefully in the dogs bowl.
Sit back and watch him eat.

Having a lazy day catching up on letter writing and sorting out links to my parents website for their house in Spain online, it's been quite a lot of work but hopefully they'll get a few links set up to help their google ratings (when they eventually come out of the sandbox anyway)

I have to sort out a big newslettery type thing for various people I need to keep in contact with, it's the kind of thing I like to do so that should keep me busy this afternoon. Only got out of bed about an hour ago so it's been a slow start to the day, but fishy water changing needs to be done this afternoon and it seems we're destined to have clear blue skies with sunshine for a bit 8-)

Afternoon all,

Job hunting is going OK, had about 5 call backs and have two interviews tomorrow. I've also had a couple of calls from recruitment agencies saying they're confident they can find me something within the next week or two, but nothing is for sure until I've actually got a position secured.

In other news I've just worked out the old company still owes me enough money to cover at least a months rent. So providing I'm tight with my budget, I should be OK surviving until something else comes along. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Also, I was truly touched by the kindness and support of all my colleagues when I left the office last week. After I packed my desk and left, most people from my area of the office took lunch at the same time to come and stand outside and say good bye to me. One guy came out and said "it won't ever be the same without you, you were our morale officer." I've since heard that a couple of guys mentioned to managers about how gutted they were that I've left. I've received messages from people at the office everyday checking how I am and saying they'll take me out for drinks soon.
One guy has even given me the keys to his house (which I'm sitting in right now) and has said that I can come here everyday until I find a job, and use his internet and computer to help with the search.
And that, that is the reason I'm gutted to have lost the job, not because I enjoyed the work, or because it was challenging or excellent pay, but because I got on so well with the people there, I had a great group of guys around me, we had a great time and always rallied around each other when times were hard. I'm not sure I'll find somewhere the same.
But everything happens for a reason, I've made some great (hopefully life long) friends out of it, got a good experience and got myself a foot in the door working in Australia, just looking forward to better things.

Enjoy your day

Morning All,

Brrr, it's a bit chilly :? Snowing hard when I left home but not sticking to the roads, horizontal snow right at your windscreen isn't the best for visibility though. It's not snowing in Notts which is a blessing, but I passed a fairly unpleasant looking accident on the A42 this morning so someone is having a worse day than I am.

I've pulled my shoulder and then managed to make it worse during the night so I'm having extreme difficulty looking left at all, or tilting my head to the left, I also can't lift anything heavier than a notepad with my left arm and reaching forwards to pick up my phone really hurts quite a lot. On the plus side, plenty of sleep over the weekend so I don't feel like a zombie this morning, and day off tomorrow (with associated lie-in) which is great!!

Today I shall mostly be dealing with travel forms, travel plans and visa applications, although I have no meetings which is nice

Have a good Monday if you can!!

Morning all. Snowing here at the moment.
Now if only I could shift this headache Monday wouldn't seem quite as bad.

Have a good day folks.
