To those asking if Christmas is now over, please be reminded Christmas properly didn't start until yesterday (25 December), and won't officially finish until 6 January (Twelfth Night). :geek:

I'm afraid all the build up from October, and the rubbish with Advent calendars, has led to a commercialised view of the Christmas period where it appears to end with Christmas Day as the culmination, rather than the beginning. :?

We've just had our 2nd best, most relaxing and special Christmas together ever! Our favourite still by a country mile is Egypt 2008, but this year has been brilliant, I cooked goose which all came out perfectly, the dinner as a whole was perfect, everything cooked, ready together and we sat down to eat 2 minutes after I had planned for (1pm) we had lovely presents, but not so many we couldn't enjoy what we had, Red excelled himself with thoughtful and loving consideration of gifts, we had a really relaxing and enjoyable day and Boxing day is proving to be another really chilled day.

Considering we usually have to drive the breadth of the country over the course of 3 days, working out who can drink and who must drive, get back home shattered on New Years Day with only 1 or 2 days to catch up on chores and getting our lives straight before we go back to work, it's a really remarkable and desirable way forward for us. Long may it continue!!

Happy Christmas everyone, xx

If everyone's decided Christmas is something else now, then it's something else.

No. The ignorant majority do not define truth. They define vulgarity, which is vulgar.

Christmas has now begun. It's OK have your seasonal icons and charms displayed now, but take them down on the Epiphany.

Twelfth Night is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as: "the evening of the fifth of January, preceding Twelfth Day, the eve of the Epiphany, formerly the last day of the Christmas festivities and observed as a time of merrymaking."

I think the majority decided that the 25th would be christmas day, festivities around this time before that were Pagan, not christian.

As for the decorations, such as the tree being Pagan, I guess they don't have to fit to those rules.

A bit pretentious?

No one cares, and if no one cares, it's not important, we don't have icons and charms, we have flashing LED reindeer, and it isn't vulgar, it's fun!

I have no axes to grind here. I was merely pointing out a fact that is being forgotten by the majority.

I don't really care, I'm just pedantic.

I like having a tree in the house, I may make a 'feature' out of it.
