I think I'm probably more nervous about handing in my notice than I was about going to see that guy about the job on Monday.

Just remember when handing in your notice be polite - never burn your bridges - you may never work for them again but.......

I have (sometimes through gritted teeth) thanked them and where they have done a formal exit interview stressed that the move was due to job progression

The worst thing for me though is that I actually quite like the company and I like the people I work with. I just don't enjoy the actual job very much and there really isn't any scope for progression into the career I want to follow.

I feel like I'm going to be betraying my friends almost. I know I'm not but that's what it feels like.

Why nervous? I would be excited if it was me.

If they are your friends, they should be happy for you. Simples.

If someone gets sh!tty with you about it that's their problem, not yours.
