What was stated was a greater tendency towards curiosity. ;)

Perhaps because, historically, they've had the time and inclination. I think it might be fair to state that for much of homo sapiens' evolutionary time, the females have played the role of homemaker. That doesn't necessarily leave a lot of time to be curious.

OK - major bee in bonnet.

Females may have been busy at home but men were just as busy if not busier. Men spent their days desperately trying to hunt food, grow food, make things to swap for food or defending the women and children from others trying to steal their food, home and women. Goods and tools that couldn't be found locally had to be looked for or sourced from other areas/villages/tribes. When the resources of the local area had been exhausted the males would find a new area in which to live. This area then had to be cleared and prepared, needing a lot of muscle and hard work.

Curiosity and the inclination to explore came out of these requirements, not the other way round. And the idea that women were working whilst men were off gallivanting and just being curious is a laughable, blinkered, post-feminist aberration.

*firmly removes the soapbox*

I thought this was staying light-hearted, but I guess not. I very much doubt that anyone seriously believes that historically, men were lying around scratching themselves, wondering about life while women were working their fingers to the bone, I also doubt that cooking, cleaning, killing and skinning animals, and hitting things with rocks is an indication of why people exhibit traits like curiosity.

Everyone has every trait to a larger or lesser degree, gender has stuff-all to do with it.

Gender has rather a lot to do with it.

Most traits are statistically much more common in one sex than another. The sexes may be equal but they're in no way identical.

The differences are negligible, and by no means "blanket". Even the experts have to say "Woman are more likely...." or "Men have a tendency to be......" there's no absolutes in gender, anymore than there is in physical appearance, anyone who claims there is, is trying to start a fight.

Ever seen a man in Ikea or a woman pouring a pint? It's tragic.

Pregnancy? ;)

Seriously though, I've never seen a man coo over a baby.

Rubbish, that's the sort of sweeping generalisation I'd expect from a bigot or a rampant feminist.

I've never seen £1M but I believe it exists. I have seen plenty of men coo-ing over babies, fathers generally, and Grandfathers, but otoh I've seen plenty of women who don't coo over babies.

I suppose that's true, even if it is a badly-reasoned, ignorant opinion ;)
