I would like England to win please.

Quietly though.

I just want to read about it the next day.

While I pay attention to the current world cup, the only one that's really ever inspired me was Italia 90.
I guess being eleven years old helped.

I don't, and there is only one reason why...

We'll never hear the end of it.

FFS, we (we being the nation of the United Kingdom, but more so England) are still going on about the 1966 World Cup. If England win another, I guess I'll be hearing about that one until the day I die (which I do hope will be in at least another 40 years :) )

Whatever. ;)

While I am sure that there are many in Scotland, Ireland, Wales and even England who don't give a monkey's about England winning the World Cup, we as a group of nations cannot avoid constant reminders of the 1966 World Cup, but interestingly, I don't recall seeing anything about England's rugby team winning a much more recent World Cup competition.

If England win again, we won't hear the end of it. With a memory like that, I'm surprised that we aren't still going "nah na na nah nah!" to the French, over Waterloo!

That’s because Rugby isn’t our national game, we showed the world how to play football...... trouble is their all better at it than us now.

So, who decided football was our national game, then?

I miss the days when cricket took over in the summer. Now football runs the year round. There. Is. No. Let. Up.

I thought so. Even more reason to dislike football.

I'm even more annoyed now. Our company have agreed to put the game on the big screens in the Cafe downstairs, anyone whos work is up to date is allowed to agree with their line manager that they can go downstairs to watch it *without* having to make the time up!!

My work is up to date but I'm not allowed to bunk off work for 2 hours, or even sit down in the cafe reading my book ?! That's not on... I demanded reciprocal rights when the Stanley Cup is on but wasn't allowed

I would think that is fair. You are being available when others are watching the football. It would also be good for staff morale.
