Not having watched the Matrix, just means you might like movies, but you're not a fan of cinema. The Matrix is a seminal cinematic experience. Avatar is not on the same level, but it is a massive spectacle and that has it's place.

But the difference here (as always) is between those who like watching the odd movie, and those who consider themselves film fans.

I am a huge film fan but I can't afford to go to the cinema. I pay £30 a month for Sky so watch a lot of films on the Sky movie channels.

I'd love to be able to go to the cinema more but huge mortgage = limited entertainment budget.

I am thinking of treating us and going to see Inception at the cinema. I think the last film we saw at Cinema was Juno and that was the cheap morning tickets.

Then watch the Matrix. Seriously.

£30 a month is 3 cinema tickets in my book. But obviously it's a preference thing.

As much as I enjoyed Moon, and I did really enjoy it, I'm a bit surprised by those here that are saying that the film made them think.
From very early on in the film I correctly guessed what was going to happen at the end, surely I can't've been the only one that did this.
Yeah, I enjoyed the route the film took to get to the end, but there was certainly no big reveal for me.

I wasn't about the big reveal. It was about an approach to movies that had been largely dead for 20 years. It's certainly a thinking man's film over say, Transformers (which I also enjoyed for completely different reasons).

Well, I'd disagree that the film wasn't about the reveal, otherwise it wouldn't've been held off until the end.
It was very much a character film - I guess it has to be with such a small main cast, and the approach taken was very subtle and involving, but then, character pieces often are.
It had a very British or european feel to it, which was refreshing, because it quite clearly had the financial clout behind it to do things properly, but it was still very much geared to the reveal.
It's really the only criticism I have of the film, that it was so transparent, sign posting the end so early in to the piece.

I don't mean it wasn't about the reveal. Of course that's a big part, but there's a lot of nuance to it and to say it's "all about the reveal" is unfair to a great film. Plus, you're clearly cleverer than the average bear. I didn't see it coming until a little later...

I knew you worked there. I didn't realise you got free TV!!

Either way, the Matrix is must see, just as much as Inception. Get on it!

Basically yeah lol. We even get people visiting here. We had Adam from Mythbusters recently. That Bear Grylls has been here too.

The Matrix is a bit of a slow-starter by today's standards I suppose, doesn't really follow the usual structure, but that's probably part of why it's so good :D

I want the hours back for those two sh1tty movies - they certainly made me think
