Starting to find 64GB a squeeze on my iPad. That will teach me to do stuff with it. The next one will be 128GB minimum.

There's more to proper mobile device management than whether they can technically connect to things or not.

Exactly, under data protection law, you would have to agree for them to put restrictions on your tablet, such as their ability to remote wipe it, you would have to have a PIN set up, whether you want one or not, and you wouldn't be able to let your family or friends use the device after it was configured.

While I agree that they would want the remote wipe - I already have a PIN set up - I dont want anyone who finds it (if I loose it) being able access my info. Also the advantage of latest Android OS is that you can have multiple logons accounts so its safer than the iPad as that only lets you have 1.

A separate account probably won't be enough for Data Protection, you'd need something like Samsung Knox set up on it.

Indeed. There are several companies (Good Technology is probably the best known) who make a lot of money selling what I call 'locker systems' for mobile devices. Essentially you have an app on your phone and all your corporate data is stored and accessed from within that app and only that app. That app has additional security features over and above what your phone might have (second factor auth, harder encryption etc) to comply with the various laws from various places round the world. If setting a PIN/unlock and the default encryption of the device were good enough, those companies wouldn't be making as much money.
This is aside from the 'management' portion, where the IT guys might want to roll out connection profile or certificate updates or any number of things, plus be able to know what data is on the device and what it's being used for.
Obviously all this stuff depends on the scale of the business you're in and what data you're dealing with. But one of the major problems with BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) is people assume the 'built in' security features are good enough, when in fact they almost always aren't. They're designed by the makers of the phones to be as un-intrusive and 'polite' as possible, because from the phone maker's point of view if they piss you off as a customer you won't buy a phone from them next time, whereas the bloke who wants to stop the business being faced with a £500K fine for DPA breach has other considerations.

This piece of sh1t You've to take the entire face out with a screwdriver to set the time, trying not to damage the edges. When you eventually get to it, the wheel is so tiny you can only adjust it with your fingernails. You can line the wheel up with it's housing as much as you like, there's no guarantee the face will slide into position correctly Worst engineering I've seen in years, it's going straight back

Just bought a Withings Pulse O2. Hopefully will prove better than the fitbit flex I had, which was a bit rubbish overall.

That Amazing Spider-Man 2 cinema ticket wasn't my best purchase, though Captain America 2 was quality.

I see more and more people wearing watches now - the trend for chunky continues, especially if the smartwatches ever gain traction I reckon.
