That's been my plan all along. Unfortunately, circumstance have forced things to happen sooner. I've got maybe £15k saved up, which back in the olden days would have been fine, but in this day and age is nothing. I'd need around £25-50k for a small place in a reasonable area.

A council house near your work?

I doubt there are any council houses nnear work. Can't apply for one because: "any circumstances that make it difficult for you to find and pay for accommodation privately" - I can pay rent. The problem then becomes finding one that is furnished.

Why do you want furnished? Most unfurnished places come with a cooker and a bathroom which is all you really need. You can get an air mattress for a few quid and they're very comfortable - it's what I slept on for several years when I got this place. For the rest, just use boxes until you can scrounge second hand stuff. I didn't pay for any of the furniture in my house

I guess it just makes life easier. But then they can just rip it out of your deposit. Point taken.

Off-road parking is going to be a must for car insurance though. Sufficiently large garages seem to be far and few between!

EDIT: I've even considered selling the car to raise enough capital - trade in is around £15000 and I can get maybe another £2000 from parts eg satnav, camera etc.

Trade that [LIFTED] in, and I'll fly up there to beat you to death with my clipboard.

Sell the mods, then private sale. Loads more cash.

 TBH if I was gonna sell it, I'd have done it just after it reached its third year. I think I'll just have to stop buying things for it! No winter alloys for starters. :(

Mods ~ £3000 at least
Car - trade offered around 15000 last time, but reckon it's around 13000. Private will be around £14-15000.

£18k + £15k = £32k. Could possibly get on the property ladder with that.

OFFICIAL WHITE HOUSE RESPONSE TO
formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race - Disclosure. and 1 other petition

Quote:
Thank you for signing the petition asking the Obama Administration to acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence here on Earth.

The U.S. government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race. In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public's eye.

I like the look of that. Particularly the large amount of internal storage which is the only real weakness I've found in my HTC Desire.

He's probably hanging on to the undercarriage.

Anybody else and I'd make some double entendre link between him and 'undercarriage' but, knowing how much he despises any talk of dirties with the opposite sex, I guess I can't. :D

So I'm off to meet with my potential new employer at lunch time. I've had 2 interviews and a psychometric test, they've checked both my references too. I'm guessing this is either going to be a final interview for them to make a decision or they're going to discuss terms and offer it too me. Hopefully the latter as it's a position I really want.

Wish me luck.
