Total Film was capable for years until it tried to copy Empire, it used to be quirky and the free gifts were fantastic.

Total Film was a dreadful magazine.
If you're truly into movies, then you should be aware of the process. You should be aware of the story telling conventions. You should be aware of how stories and films are put together - how much of an achievement it is just to complete and release a film.
If you're not, and you're passing criticism, then I'm sorry, I have no time for your opinion.
Good criticism is very difficult to do.

If you're happy to stay ruminating at the levels of "OMFG There's this superhero movie and I'm interested but I don't even want to know who the baddy is but I want to read a review and kinda see the trailer as long as it's made up of all the dull bits that don't tell me much about the movie outside the casting" then frankly you need either an education, or to get off the internet.

Sorry.
Bit of a hot topic at work.

Goon - has no idea if it wants to be a comedy or a sports drama, winds up being neither.

I just stumbled upon this film: The Bounty

One of those "With this cast how can it go wrong?" moments.

I shall let you know how it goes wrong or right (if you haven't already seen it) later tonight. :ugeek:

Just seen Drive.
Beautifully shot. Beautifully edited. Beautifully paced. Just a wonderful piece of cinema.

I keep hearing this, but I never make it beyond the first 30 minutes.

Oh man you really should.
The opening of the film, up until the end of the starting credits, is one of the best understated openings of a Hollywood film I've seen in years.

It's about pretty people staring at each other and then some incongruous murders.

Whiteout - Has hilarious dialogue ('He's been shot in the head.' Yeah, is that what that hole is?) and it just walks you through every bit of exposition until the next improbable bit. Know the sort of character stupidity displayed in slasher flicks? It's that with even worse dialogue

I'm just wondering, have you started using any 'Belfast' phrases or the like? I bet you have without realising :)

Ever looked out the windy and thought, 'Looks fcuking baltic out there, so it does.'

I use the word 'grand' a lot, as well as the phrase 'work away'.
Other than those two, I really haven't allowed the infection to take hold.
