The smoke alarm at the top of the stairs started having a spaz fit at 05:30 today. I blearily found a chair to get it down, pulled it out of the bracket and turned it over to pull out the batteries. No batteries!
It took me 5 minutes of trying to clear my eyes of sleep, wake up my contact lenses and focus, to discover that it's a 10 year sealed unit, no batteries to replace, you have to replace the entire thing.
That's stupid!

I think that the idea is that people do not use them properly, so replaceable batteries are not a good idea for them.

It is also guarantees the best recruitment for the team. Which kid would not want a rock band rugby shirt?

So what does 'TLC' actually stand for then? I thought given your employer's other stuff it might be 'The Learning Channel' but now I'm thinking... not.

It was originally The Learning Channel but has moulded more in to a reality entertainment channel over the years. From my perception of the US version I'd say it's Discovery's channel for women. It is also marketed as the Life channel and gave birth to such gems and Jon and Kate Plus 8 and (the dreaded) Honey Boo Boo *cringe*
