A bit more info is here, with a teaser for the trailer apparently out on Thursday. Scott is not doing the spoilery thing.

And the full interview (which I have not read yet) is here:

The PROMETHEUS Trailer Is Here

Now that's how you make a trailer :geek:

Though I suspect Scott's recent comments regarding the Alien might have been a smokescreen ;)

Tut.
Ruined it for me. I just know all the good bits from the film have just been shown to me, and what the entire story is now.
I also know the all the cast's entire dialogue and nuanced performances.
Spoiler alerts would be nice.

Oh come on. If you are that bothered about spoilers, why did you watch the trailer?

I am jesting, of course, at the expense of some of our fellow brethren. ;)

Mr. Beaks Talks The Origin, Aim And MPAA Rating Of PROMETHEUS With Sir Ridley Scott And Damon Lindelof!

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/54368

As ever these days, I'll wait for the reviews first, but I sense a dilemma in whether to see it in 3D or not just because it could be one of the films that really suits it ie actually has a plot and good acting alongside the effects.

Oh, gawd. I’m going to be going through that trailer frame by frame looking for stuff if I’m not careful. There is a SHED load of things there which are clearly proto-Alien things. I am somewhat dismayed that the ship looks more advanced than the Nostromo, despite the retro-design of the Weyland corporate ID.

It looks terrifying. Seriously, if you want to unnerve me, do your scary stuff on a space ship or in a submarine. I am only too aware of the think skin and hard vacuum or water outside.

I am sure that
a) You won’t see everything in the trailer in the film (it is a known practice to film stuff specifically for trailers)
b) It’s out of sequence

It looks athough Scott is making an R and PG13 film. If the studio decide on the latter then I may have to boycott the film until the R version is released. I want to be terrified, and some of the sounds from that trailer suggest the film could do just that. Less vanilla and more terror please.

I guess the R will be the “director’s cut”. MInd you, if he has ANY SHRED OF COMMON DECENCY IN HIM, he’ll make the film so tightly interwoven that the studio will have no choice but to release the R version because any cuts would significantly alter the story/meaning/tone/aspect of the film. He may have to ask Terry Gilliam how that’s done :-)

In the meantime, that trailer has a brief flash of a structure in it which reminds me of this:
Image
Which is Giger’s design for Harkonnen’s fortress in the abandoned Dune film he was working on designs for (alongside Dali). The structure/geological feature in the trailer is no where near as complex or as obvious as this, but it just has those vibes to it.

:) I thought the same thing when I watched it last night!
Also sorta putting together a little bit of how they're tying it into Alien.
I'm actually quite excited to see this now.
