People who drive in the middle lane of the motorway even if the motorway is empty.

What's silly is that they seem to be completely oblivious. Most of them move back to the left hand lane after I've undertaken them. A select few remain in the middle lane!

At night I am a complete bastard if i see this on the motorway in front of me, especially the M23 if it is practically empty. What I do then is drive on the inside lane (correctly) and when I am about to over take, the lights go on full beam, and I then pass close behind them. Then once safely ahead of them indicate and change lanes from outside lane to inside lane. About 80% realise what they are doing wrong and indicate to change lanes.

Annoying as all hell isn't it?
I miss cruise control. It's like caps lock for driving.

What, caps lock makes my typing more efficient on long runs?

I should be able to do a steady speed in primarily the left lane without interruption. After all, everybody else seems to want to do 90, unless they're in a truck arguing over 56mph with every other truck.

Also, I drive a turbocharged car and I find it quite easy not to hit the throttle when cruising. A and B roads are a different story ;)

Turbo car in the inside lane, is it a diseasel?

Actually, I'm a bit surprised by that as I always thought you were a bit if a petrol(or diesel)head.

If the end of your post was in reply to
My earlier post, to clarify, I have no keeping my foot still issues, I just find my car gravitates to around 90 and I have to concentrate to keep it at 80. A gnat's cock of throttle is the difference between 80 and 90. It's only 500 rpm.

Look, let me be clear, the thing is-is I don't mind "so". It's more that Americans, in particular, when asked to explain about something, start their explanation with "so". It's like an affectation, going forward.

Anyone who uses a car horn in anything other than an emergency.

Just as bad as driving with foglights and no fog, and anything other than the 1st lane when not overtaking.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

You are allowed to use the horn to warn of your approach. I used to drive down a narrow lane with a blind bend, and a toot on the horn before driving carefully round it was important.

Lazy minicab drivers, who can't be arsed to get out of their car to knock on a door, though...

Yes you are, but you could also say that if you need to use the horn in those circumstances then you are driving too quickly for the road or conditions.

One of the main culprits, but not the only one. On that note the majority of cabs in Australia have port and starboard floodlights, not only do they assist in letting that driver find the house number, they are also good at informing the intended passenger that their ride has arrived. :)

Or you are driving at the correct speed but are worried that someone coming the other way might be going a tad too fast?

Then that is likely to come under the emergency situation as mentioned before.

Exactly. The problem is in today's hermetically sealed cars, with hifi blaring and mobile phone distractions, no-one will hear my feeble parp-parp.

The Highway Code wrote:
112 The horn.
Use only while your vehicle is moving and you need to warn other road users of your presence. Never sound your horn aggressively. You MUST NOT use your horn
[*] while stationary on the road
[*] when driving in a built-up area between the hours of 11.30 pm and 7.00 am
[*] except when another road user poses a danger.

Nope. I do like my cars, but I like other things to, and 74 indicated is plenty thanks and 60 will often do. The throttle is extremely responsive! Which is why I don't use it when I'm on the motorway ;) I just can't afford it!

Today is a bad day and it's not going to end well.

I have been working for the last 12 months seconded to a team working on the new Citrix infrastructure here (whilst retaining my old salary mind you!).
Now they're doing a restructure and people are free to apply for posts which means I would apply (and likely get) a post on the server/Citrix team.
But today they've decided they're going to slot people in on the new structure. The post I would be slotted into (based on an old job description) means I'd be moving back to the projects team and take a 5k job to boot.

[LIFTED] marvelous.

Goddammit! Virgin Channel One has been stopped, thereby preventing me from getting my regular fix of ST:TNG.

I've said it before but self-scan checkouts at supermarkets really piss me off. Unexpected items, approval needed, I'm sure a ten year sentence with Talkie the Toaster as a cell mate would be more entertaining.

For those of you who like them, well you don't really, you just don't want to queue. Same for the supermarkets, they say that people like them, well they don't, they just don't want to queue. And as a result of the submission of the general public to these machines and being told what they like by supermarkets, well the rest of us have to queue even longer for real service.
