There's already a TDKR thread somewhere I think, but feel free, I'd love to know what you thought of it!

Just got in from seeing it. Few thoughts.
Bane: Just didn't find him that threatening. He's there to watch the world burn, but I never got a sense that he's some complete nihilist, unlike Ledger's performance with the Joker. In fact, I'd rather share a lift with Bane than the Joker. Just didn't find the voice convincing, the over dub wasn't doing it for me. Also, that mask. Goatse.
Photography - very impressive on the whole, but either our projector was breathing a bit or big chunks were shot soft. I can immediately bring to mind the piece just after Batman meets Bane for the first time, and the cage closes - nothing was sharp. I wanted Batman's eyes to be sharp, but they're soft. A lot of the shots of Bane were the same. It was as if the focus puller had set the camera to Auto and left it hunting in places.
Art department: Seemed confused in places if the Police were GPD or GCPD. I think they settled on GCPD by the end of the movie though.
How/where do you get put three getaway bikes in the NYSE?
Anne Hathaway turned in a good performance, so I'm warming to her. Or maybe it was the suit.
Can't help feeling that on this occasion, Nolan might have bitten off more than he could chew - and in fact I felt the same about the last one. Whereas I felt the last film should've been a two-parter (cramming in too much) I felt this one just dragged a little.
A distinctly middle of the road 3/5 from me.

I thought I was the only one who noticed the GCPD/GPD.

I just watched Batman Forever. I'd forgotten how camp it was but worse was the way they tried to portray the "darkness" without being too dark. The Nolan films are definitely a breath of fresh air in comparison.

I can still watch that one today, but I can't even watch 4 for the comedy value - almost EVERYTHING about that movie is awful

I thought Kilmer was atrocious as an actor. He just seemed to be entirely monotonous throughout the film.

I should add that I got a DKR T-shirt as a present for my birthday. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting on your thesis for the film. Otherwise I may end up on the superherohype website!

I'll get round to it if I get the time, too many minor distractions at the moment, long story. Overall, I actually think Begins is a better film - trying to rely on Bane as a presence the way they did with the Joker was a big mistake, though not fatal. And there's characters who aren't really needed (Blake's boss - Murphy was it? Holly), cameos from previous films just in case you're falling asleep... It's actually the messiest Nolan film I've seen, and I'm wondering did Warner Bros. push for anything that wound up adjusting the screenplay It's still highly watchable, I was just surprised at how so many elements seemed 'off' to me personally.

Saw TDKR on Friday, have to say I was distinctly underwhelmed by it.
Whilst I loved Begins and TDK, this one just felt too slow paced. After a good start in the opening 10-20mins, I had high hopes for it, but then the whole middle section just dragged for me. There was a huge part of the film where Batman didn't appear, just Bruce Wayne - I'm trying not to give anything away plot-wise here! The group of people behind me kept giggling whenever Bain "spoke", and to be fair I thought the vocals were OTT, there were parts that you couldn't make out what he was saying because it was mumbled and others where he completely overcooked the performance and it sounded cheesy. I think the group behind me perhaps thought it was a comedy! But that did spoil it a bit - still, you can't pick the idiots that sit near you, can you?!
For me, it wasn't until the last 25-30mins that it started to pick up pace again and by that time I'd lost way too much interest. Saw the twist coming a mile off and the ending just left me feeling disappointed. Plus, Michael Caine was rather sidelined in this one.
This was my most anticipated film of this year, but for me it was a below-average 5/10 - and that was for the visuals (which, to be fair, I can't fault).

Nope, just a bit overcooked for some people I suspect. Afterwards I was actually thinking that you'd have enjoyed the themes via Wall St. etc.

Sorry to hear that, but I do think that's an understandable response to a hammy Sean Connery mixed with Roger Moore impression. He did have one of the best lines in the movie though - Trader: 'There's no money to be stolen here.' Bane: 'No? Then why are you here?' I'm really interested to hear though - did anyone else not notice the soft focus for some of it, or do I need to have a chat to the cinema's management?
