Ads are why I don't watch much UK TV aside from the Beeb. And they suck on catch-up services.

I tend to record Freeview stuff I’ll miss on the PS3 via the NowTV box, and wind through the ads. FWIW, and episode of The Big Bang Theory, which occupies a 30 minute slot, has around 16-17 minutes of actual programme. That‘s allowing for US TV ads which are far more prevalent than here in the UK.

The run time is more like 20 mins but on e4, they make a lot of cuts especially anything relating sexual related that might be offensive eg whore, bitch, masturbation and certain swear words. Instead of just censoring the word, part of the joke gets cut out so someone says something, (someone else gives a funny reply but this gets cut out) and there's laughter.

Tesla S which is already on sale (seen a couple on the road) will do over 300 with the biggest battery pack. Sends the cost of the car over £80K at that point mind. The car's range is an easy problem to solve, basically - just stick more batteries in. The tricky problem is charging points; you need enough of what Tesla describes as 'supercharge' points in a wide area to make an electric car generally viable, rather than a convenience for people who live a few miles from where they work. According to Tesla's web site currently there are two supercharge points outside London in the UK. Two. Until that number rises significantly, electric cars will not take off because nobody wants the hassle of a twelve hour charge if they're visiting relatives for the day or something. Most people can't afford to have an electric car for 'usual' trips then own/hire a petrol one when they have to go further. They have to have one car to do all jobs. Until the infrastructure is there to make electric cars fit that they're a niche market however good the cars themselves actually are.

I don't know where they're at now, but the lifespans for the batteries were a bit crap too IIRC.

Samsung unveils fanless MacBook Air competitor with 12-hour battery life

Now that I'm mighty curious about, though even ignoring their market policy, I suspect it'll be overpriced by at least a quarter as Samsung's laptops and tablets tend to be IME.

From the specs, I reckon around 800 - 900€ would be resonable.

I'm also still very happy with my Surface Pro 3. It really is a great little box.

It works very well as a tablet, but excels as a desktop and laptop replacement.

It is reminiscent of the Microsoft strap.
