Off The Record - Excellent so far, another thriller from Joe Joyce, only this one's told from the perspective of a reporter. Free with Prime too.

This turned out to be absolute arse. The whole thing is set up as a big conspiracy only for it to go absolutely nowhere! The lead character didn't even hold my attention after a while never mind get any more interesting. In the end it's just a collection of loose threads. Utterly pointless and utterly annoying for something that started so well

Jussi Adler-Olsen has just posted on bookface about the new Department Q novel :D

Quote:
Hooray! It's here — the front for the BOUNDLESS, which is published in Denmark (d). 24. October. What say ye to it?

And here a little about the book card: in the midst of his usual hard-won morgenlur with legs on the desk in the basement of police headquarters, get Carl Mørck, head of the Department, a phone call from an outlandish colleague.

"Yes, sorry, I disturb you, but maybe you have a little time to listen to me." But Carl is dismissive when he becomes aware that he is being foisted on a new case on, and so will be the tube in the other end just so quiet down on. Only a few hours after is completely unpredictable consequences and Carl's independent-minded Assistant Rose more furious than usual.

Hard pressed he leads Department Q into a seventeen-year-old and extremely tragic case of a young, cheerful woman who disappeared from his school and was found hanging killed in a tree.

The very Earthbound Carl now stands in front of a difficult and mysterious exploration, all while a skilled manipulator with iron will protect itself and its with all available means and doesn't let anyone or anything get in the way.

Along the way and in the unapologetic, alternative environments will be Rose, Assad, Carl and the newcomer Gordon challenged in all possible ways, and old cases and secrets threaten to overthrow leaf clover pounding.

Currently reading "The Rise and Fall of the German Democratic Republic 1945-1990" by Mike Dennis.

Next up is "Anatomy of a Dictatorship: Inside the GDR 1949-1989" by Mary Fulbrook.

After that will either be "The Awful German language" by Mark Twain or "The Wandering Jew" by Stefan Heym.

You're a fan of easy going fiction then ;)
Ha! Just seen this.

Yeah, I've never been a reader of easy fiction; I guess I just don't see the point. My only liking in this regard is Stephen King. I don't know why - the books aren't even that good.

Ever bought a Kindle book and it'll have 'highlighters' in it that haven't been made by you? I've had this a few times. WTF?

It's a Kindle option switched on by default, a 'community' bit to get you to buy more books no doubt, preying on natural curiosity.

I quite like the highlights. They're usually good quotes

I find them distracting so I've switched them off.

Just finished the Jennifer Saunders bog which was brilliant. What an amazing woman!

Now on Asa Larsson The Blood Spilt. This is the last one of hers I have left to read. I read them in the wrong order but it hasn't made much difference to be honest. Highly recommend.
