That sucks. What did you do, put diesel in a petrol car? That's weird, as I thought it would just make it run shabbily. :/

No it's a diesel car, I would have noticed yesterday after filling up if petrol was in it Engine had just had enough, turbo went first meaning I lost all acceleration (at 70 on a dual carriageway, foot down and no acceleration), went to take a slower road (did the same a while ago then it just came back later), stopped in a queue at some traffic lights and it just died, didn't try to pull away and it just died. Got it started after charging the battery (but the battery was still very low, but no turbo and so very sluggish (and wouldnt go above 3k rpm) then the guy tested it, plugged in the diagnostics and found the long list of faults that had occurred since the last MOT/service (was due for a service next week). Put it up on the ramp to tow it back home, turbo then decided it wanted to kick in, full power. Even with the engine off it was going (so self combusting) and burning the oil very quickly (pretty much filled the road with white smoke) Long story short, it's not worth fixing, going to sell the bits from it that aren't standard (so chrome grill, spoiler, cd changer, front fogs etc) then just scrap it as it's not worth the hassle of keeping. Had a flick through AT and there are a fair few nice looking Mondeos I plan to look at next weekend or possibly before then, seen a few ford focus' but for the money a mondeo is better specced, lower mileage and better performance for the same price, seems silly not to really

That's really weird. Sounds as if a piston rings had stuck in and was just letting compression leak past, and when you stopped it it decided to snap back into place. Also, if you get a Mondy, make sure its the 160hp TDCI. Man they're fast

160? I'm not getting a 2.2 115/130 2.0, going to look into if there is a difference in spec of the engine (if its possible to remap the 115 to the 130, so I get less to start but can get a better spec for the price) Anyone know if adverts on the autotrader site are internet only or the ones from the magazine go in also? Seen some good ones in the mag that aren't on the site and vice versa. On the plus side, insurance is only £50 or so difference, and it's my current provider so will try and haggle for it for free if I do get a mondeo

Fin:
IIRC, the 2.0 TDCI engine in the Mondy is the same as the one in the little Transit, and if it is all you have to do is swap the ECU and airbox round to make it into a 130hp'er.
