Has anyone here seen The Shadow?

I was thinking of renting it... I have a vague memory of it not being well-received, but I was just wondering if any of you had seen it.

Yes.
I was bitterly disappointed by it, considering the director also did Highlander. (8+(
There's some really nice touches in it, but they alone do not a good film make.

What was wrong with it in your view?

Sorry man, there's no way I could pinpoint it now. It's been far too many years since I saw it, and I've only seen it the once.
I just remember coming away from it feeling very short changed.
Perhaps I should give it another go, to see if my opinion has altered any from back then?

I'm gonna give it a go through Netflix (eventually, dunno when I'll kill my Blockbuster account yet), I'll let you know how I get on... though the reviews are scathing

My initial assessment was probably correct then (8+)

I watched The Shadow not that long ago. I've listened to loads of the old radio series from the 30's and 40's so I was familiar with the character and I found the movie to be a bit of a let down. It's not all bad though.... it just seemed very formulaic. Penelope Ann Miller is very easy on the eye, which is one good thing.

On a side note, has anyone watched Unstoppable? It's a 2010 thriller with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine about a runaway train. It's on later this week and I wondered if it was worth a look. After that, The Rocketeer is next on the list. I've heard quite a few people (on podcasts) say how good it is.

Oh god, I love The Rocketeer. It's silly in a brilliant way.

Yeah, I've seen it, and I recall enjoying it enough. It's pretty solid 7.538/10.

Timothy Dalton was so good in it.

I enjoyed Unstoppable. I believe it was based on a true story but I could be wrong.

Just watched Ironman for the first time, we both really enjoyed it and have plans for the second one soon.

It's a good laugh isn't it, while still having good action scenes :)

2, not so much, 3 is more of a return to form! ;)

I need to re-watch this.
I recall really enjoying it when it was released.

^^^I loved The Rocketeer as a kid, and as a teen, Jennifer Connelly was hot. Someone's uploaded it to youtube. Was going to start watching but noticed someone had uploaded Flight of the Navigator so started watching that instead. Got to about half way before going to sleep (at 2am).
