Ta. I suppose it is word-of-mouth in a way. I've built seven railway coaches for a friend, and he suggested I contact the manufacturer of the kits to see if there was any commissioned work about. So I rang them and they said they don't get that many requests for stuff to be built these days, but would pass any on to me. I got an email yesterday, spoke to the client, made a quote and they accepted. I would add make sure that museums have details of what you can do. I know some people via a friend who do work for museums. Went up The Shard with the family on Tuesday. The weather was pretty good (not a cloud in the sky) and we went up about 20 minutes before sunset so got to watch that as well.
It's such a pity the use of tripods is banned although I can see why. One cheeky scamp had smuggled in a monopod to which he had attached his compact camera so he managed to get some shots unimpeded by the glass.
Definitely worth a visit if you can swallow the price - £24.95 for an advanced ticket. If you want to go it does pay to book in advance as tickets cost an extra £5 'on the door'.
