Get yourself an iPhone.
You knew I was going to say that didn't you?

Actually, no, I didn't.

Reasons for not getting an iPhone:

1. I don't need one.
2. I can't afford one - especially on the PAYG tariff! :o
3. I got the current phone free.
4. Um, there is no fourth reason.
:D

Are you quite sure about that?
You have a problem with your current 'phone that the owner's manual doesn't deal with and the handset itself isn't intuitive enough for you to work it out by yourself.

Still not need an iPhone?

I refer the honourable egg to point two in my earlier presentation.

In any case, what would I want all the extra complications of an iPhone for? I don't want the interwebz. I don't want email on my phone - I'm never that far from a computer much of the time, and when I am far away from the wired world, it's a blessing.

All I need from a mobile is to make and receive calls and texts. This freebie cast-off has a full office application suite on it, and I've used the camera a couple of times to reinforce my views on how crap mobile phone cameras are.

...and breathe.

All I want is for the phone or the network to wake up and realise there is no spoon.

In all honesty, I've never setup e-mail on miPhone because I simply don't want it there and like you I'm very rarely that far away from a computer for very long.

Gaaaargh! I know I don't want to be on it for many sane and rational reasons, but really missing the benefit of my prednisolone today. Hrmph!

This phone is still p*ssing me off good and proper.

I've been through to the messaging service, there are no messages, I go to help and get a communications error. It's going to end up in the bin soon.

Have you tried calling Orange?

I had a similar problem once (well the opposite actually - I was not getting any notification of voicemails), I called orange, they did some <clicky> stuff at their end and fixed it straightaway. It was a network problem rather than a phone one.

It does sound about right, actually. I will try calling them later. Ta.

In other news, I thought I'd buy the phone a memory card. Online, best price £4.99. In our local electronics superstore... £15.99. I was speechless. Guess where I spent my money.

I'm going to guess that you said "Stuff it, I don't actually need a memory card" and treated yourself to chippy for lunch. Oh, wait. That was me ;)

Yip, it's scary the price difference in shops compared to online - you have to wonder how many people just don't know any better... Saying that, I still encounter the 'I like to be able to take it back to a shop if anything goes wrong' brigade all too often :(

though i do like to buy monitors and other easily breakable items from local shops, since theres less chance of it being damaged by a clumsy courier

Just a code test
Just wanted to see if this spoiler code works on this site as it's not one of the icons for posts.
EDIT

I see it doesn't work.
On Bit-tech that would be blacked out until you move your mouse over it.
