Met a girl (a friend of a friend of a friend) at a roller disco (don't ask) on Wednesday night.

We were talking and I was teaching her to skate backwards and stuff. We seemed to get on really well.

Just been chatting on FB for the past hour. She said she has a crap phone and needs a new one but doesn't know which to get.

So, I'm meeting up for drinks with her tomorrow and to help her find a new phone :D

LOL! Not the most romantic date but at least it gives us something to do/talk about without any nervous pauses!

Yeah it's definitely a two man job to find a phone... I'll give this little cookie an hour before you're doing the no-pants dance, time to musk up. :P

But when it becomes a three or more man job to find a phone walk away gracefully. ;)

Just forced the lads to tidy up all the files and boxes near my desk and found a load of ipod boxes with chargers and headphones... have stocked up on spares.

Now where's my ebay log on.... ;)

Well, that went well :D

Your prediction was incorrect though and not sure if we'll go out again but it was a very good day.

Managed to "bag a switcher" also as she decided to go for an iPhone 4

It was nice to have someone cuddle up whilst watching a scary movie at the cinema also :D

After that we went our separate ways.

Got a free copy of PCPro, from PCPro themselves. How? Read on, dear reader.

PCPro’s website ran this headline yesterday:
Teenager jailed for refusing to reveal encryption keys
http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/361693/teen ... ption-keys

At about the same time, MacUser’s website ran this headline:
Man gaoled for refusing to reveal password
http://www.macuser.co.uk/2741-man-gaole ... l-password

I fired off a couple of tweets - one congratulating MacUser for using the “gaol” spelling, and one grumbling about PCPro using the “jail” spelling (all in good jest, I’ll add). PCPro responded, challenging me to find a modern regular publication which uses the more archaic spelling. I found a few examples on The Telegraph’s website, and the Spectator’s (correctly guessing that these two would be more curmudgeonly when it comes to spelling). So I lobbed a few screenshots and URLs at them, and they responded pointing out that The Telegraph has several thousand uses of “jail” on their site. However, they offered to send me a free copy anyway, and apparently it’s in the post.

Oh - the MacUser article was by Simon Aughton. The PCPro article wasn’t. I remember a time when they would share articles and stores…

A minor win anyway :-)

I would say that using gaol is now a tad pretentious.

You know I used to wait two days to call anybody, but now it's like everyone in town waits two days. So I think three days is kind of money. What do you think?

If you wait three days, hmm it kind of feels like you've been playing Super Mario Brothers for a few days and totally forgot about her. Maybe if you wait for a whole week, so she's all sad and stuff, you can then hit her with "I'm sorry my sweet, I was away for a week teaching street-kids the Argentine Tango, it fills me with such joie de vivre to fill their sad lives with the elation of dance" and she'll melt into your arms with admiration and guilt that she ever doubted you?

And then confesses that she was so distraught she shagged a stranger in a nightclub. :D

I don't. Jail is the american term. Gaol is the British term. Though I am not so pedantic as to get upset by it. That is what sub editors are for. ;)
