seems a bit expensive. A couple of bits of old carpet work just as well to get you out of a rut.

I was thinking more for longer trips TBH rather than just getting you out of snow.

They appear to be epic and were even featured on the news in Denver a couple years back. And they know snow.

Useless on the patchy [LIFTED] down here though. Has to be proper snow or ice fully covering the road, because running them on tarmac will knacker them. Much cheaper than winter tyres which are £110-£150 a corner for me.

Better than the £220 a corner for my car

Only a 1 series BMW with 17's.
It's the runflat bit that seems to bump up the price

Ahh yes, how homo. You don't need run flats though. You could get some proper tyres for half the money ;)

But of course, if you've managed to keep to your £1000 for every year you've been alive rule, you're clearly not in my league of spending problems ;)

It's recommended that you take them off when you get back to tarmac

It's better to fit proper winter tyres. They work from 7*C downwards. How often do you get upwards of 15*C in the depths of winter?

Well I've yet to find out about that, so I'll take your word for it!

Aye, it does seem somewhat like a false economy to use anything other than winter tyres.

I had to go to meeting today. Drove down a nice, clear DC, NSL but did 60mph. Missed my turning. Took the next one and I ended up going down some tiny side road! Full of frozen snow, and where there wasn't snow, there was ice! Too narrow to do a 3-way turn, so forced to carry on. Completely horrendous but managed it without damaging my rims. At one point I skidded (something like a metre) as I was turning but thankfully turned out of it. Managed to drive up hills and negotiated corners and junctions without any other problems.

The alternative, had I carried on down the DC and turned back, was to be stuck in three hours' worth of traffic!

That'll be summer rubber then! And I take you ARE running 18s? ;)
