I am posting this on my iPhone via a very slow connection. I have just discovered the Google Mobile app. It is amazing. It has excellant voice recognition. I spoke the words " Simon Singh latest" and it gave me the latest links to how his case is going. (he is facing action for questioning chiropractic medicine). Not you average search but it Googled it hor me word perfectly. A highly recommended application. It is free too.

Sounds good CC, and I'm kind of following that case you're talking about via Private Eye

The remote control app doesn't work on my iMac/iPod Touch...
One problem I have with the earbuds is that they won't stay in my ears, they keep slipping out, so I have to push them back in every 10 seconds or so. I also have the cable salad they make when I carry them around! I'll look at getting something better...

Personally, I can't stand earbud 'phones, so I prefer proper headband-type devices. Be that as it may, your reference to "cable salad" brought to mind a Daring Fireball post regarding the current design's apparent tangle resistance... http://daringfireball.net/2008/11/tangled_up_in_white

Yeah, I'll probably buy some "normal" headphones, or maybe some bluetooth ones...
Want to try my BT headset with the iPod Touch later for making voice notes...
BTW, hat to allow iTunes to accept incoming ports to get it to work with the remote control app.
Edit: Just read the Daring Fireball post, if these are these new earbuds are non-tangle, I hate to think what the other ones are like!
As to the Sennheiser, no, they are in-ear, again. I'd probably go for headphones instead. A little more cumbersome, but much more pleasant to use.

Ended up with CX299s from Sennheiser, they are actually very comfortable and work well as ear plugs when the iPod isn't playing music - excellent for sitting next to the droning motor coming back from the funeral, I was right next to the turbopro motor of the Bombardier Dash8 Q400, which makes a fair old racket, but hardly noticeable with the plugs in. It did cause the hostess to have a go at me to turn off my iPod, even though it was off!

The Apple remote app is for controlling AppleTVs, not computers. There are a couple of apps that will do computer control though. I don't really do that though so I couldn't really recommend one.. Jon

It does control iTunes, but I had to alter the firewall settings in OS X to allow iTunes to talk to the iPod Touch.
