Phew! Found it! The tax man owes me £130 pounds. It's not much, but it all comes in handy.

I love those moments (had 4 or 5 so far). I always get stuck between framing it or cashing it... always cashed them so far!

I got a Christmas bonus, and I just flogged some stuff I don't need. Grand total £540 = New Media Centre and a couple of bottles of single malt for the new year Should probably get something for my dear old granny too, but I honestly can't think of anything. She's nearly 80, and although she's bright she's not that energetic these days. She doesn't drink or eat chocolate, and she quit smoking. She thinks flowers are a waste of money, and has a toy-boy already. Other suggestions welcome!

A subscription to something, even if it's a local newspaper or some magazine she reads? Books?

Actually, one of those subscriptions that covers the cost of all your pills for the year might not be a bad idea. Oh wait, that's " prescription". Close, and still not a bad idea

NHS Pre-payment Certificates? I start saving on mine after about 5 weeks - they really are a bargain!

We were out doing one of my least favourite pastimes - shopping - earlier. I topped up my PAYG, bought some new underwear and a pair of slippers, and Best Beloved wandered into Currys.digital. I wandered along to see what was happening in the Blu-Ray player world.
Looking lonely on the shelf was a Sony DVD recorder thingy with 1080p HDMI upscaling, sans box, instructions, cables and remote for £30. I felt it was a bit of a bargain, so bought it.

5 days after my operation mine had paid for itself Every time I walk out of that pharmacy I'm usually carrying a few bags of stuff!
