Seems unlikely that Parliament will block A50 from being invoked, but may well attempt to steer Government away from the financial suicide hard Brexit route it currently seems to be advocating.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how MP's vote on this - will the Cons and Labour be whipped to all vote in favour, will they be able to vote in line with the views expressed by their constituencies (what would that look like) or will they be given a free vote?
We can say with confidence that the SNP and the Lib Dems will definitely vote against triggering article 50.

In short, whilst the minister has been allowed to appeal the decision, it looks like there's very little if any scope for an appeal to be successful.

lets have a vote in parliament, no problem, if the Govt. win then vote A50 moves ahead. if the Govt. lose the vote then that will lead to a GE. no problem either way.
this is just a delay nothing more nothing less and was expected ...

Oh do please do explain why the government losing a vote would trigger a general election (before 2020).
There is a mechanism for an early GE in the fixed term parliament act but it's not that easy to trigger and you can be damn sure May isn't going to set any vote on A50 up as a confidence vote in the government when the referendum wasn't actually binding in the first place. Especially if doing so would give UKIP any sort of leg up.

it would be classed as a no confidence vote in Govt. as they would not be able to comply with the referendum result and is one of the few reasons a early GE can be called.
if that is the case and a GE is triggered then labour in there heartlands that voted out would get totally wiped also in Scotland the SNP would lose seats. also Wales would vote for a party that support there out vote.

making for a massive majority for the next Govt.

It's now a possibility that it won't happen. We can speculate all we want but we'll just have to wait and see.
