Go to halfords and buy some windscreen cleaner, it's great! In other news red wine is officially banned from the living room. Not my fault, my brother knocked over a glass on the new carpet a couple of months ago and my brother-in-law threw up last night whilst sleeping on the sofa.

I have to wear glasses sometimes I use a microfibre cloth. Much more important than anything else. Currently using my Belkin HDTV/Laptop cleaner which is basically IPA and a handy small microfibre cloth.

You use Indian Pale Ale as a cleaning agent? Sorry, but that's just weird I agree on the cloth though - soft and lint free. I normally use a clean pair of pants off the drier, but Microfibre is much superior. * OK just twigged, IsoPropyl Alcohol? So aftershave then.

Yup IsoPropyl Alcohol. Use it for lots of things to do with cleaning eg computer parts, glasses and polish residue on the car.
I've bought mine in a tin and dilute it down when and where necessary.

Dilute it? How do you dilute a solvent? What solvent do you dilute it with? I'm guessing distilled water? The main point of a perfectly pure volatile solvent such as alcohol or acetone is that it leaves no residue. Adding anything to it rather defeats the object.

The problem is that with detailing, 100% IPA (or close to it) can penetrate the clear coat/lacquer on a car and cause damage. So it's diluted with distilled water (from the condenser dryer).

I use repro wipes that we use for the scanner. I haven't scanned anything in years, but I've found what must be the last purveyor of repro wipes.

My material science isn't very up to date, but I would have guessed that a 50% IPA / H2O mixture would do 50% of the damage of pure IPA. Unless it's all about hydrogen bonding, and the alcohol bonds to the water so it doesn't penetrate the lacquer... but if that's the case, I would have thought it would also ruin it's benefit as a degreasing agent and you'd be better off with a squirt of Fairy. Ho hum. Composites are complicated, but if it works it works so I'll just shut up now
