What the heck are internet citizens doing with their ear/headphones? I'm reading loads of reviews at the moment and there seem to be an awful lot of people who can destroy them within 6 months!

I have various cheaper-end sets that are years old, and some were listened to every day :?

Which is what put me off Turtle Beach sets.

Even the official Sony PS3 stereo headset isn't perfect. My right channel went on the blink for a few seconds!

Mine keep breaking, mainly the cable. The biggest problem is they always twist up in my coat pocket and I have to spend the first five minutes of a listening session untangling them.

Also the other side is a lot of buds fit so badly! The Apple ear buds are the worst, closely followed by Philips. My htc ones aren't too bad, if a little esoteric in design.

The best ones I found were some Panasonic over the ears, which hook around the ear. But the cable is pretty naff. They were also dirt cheap.

The Senheisers I had (in ear) were relatively comfortable, but a complete pain.

Oh FFS. I was just about to turn on PS3 to play COD.

More infuriatingly, I'd left it on last night to charge headset and controller and only switched it off this AM. I might've still been signed in!

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Are you talking about the loop of plastic that goes around the earbud wires, after they split and slides up and down?

The little toggle. Move it all the way up to the buds and then you effectively only have one continuous wire rather than three. Fewer tangles.

Aha, never seen any headphones with a toggle.

It also doesn't help, as it is usually the whole cable, not just the ear buds bit which has knotted itself.

Use your [LIFTED] indoor voice when speaking to someone next to you, and keep your [LIFTED] mouth shut when talking out loud about spoilers, especially when you are the only one in the room that has finished it

Grr! Inset days, teacher training, illness, school emergenices all of these things only happen to parents and they expect to get time off work to deal with them. Why aren't they expected to make the time up? Why can't I just wake up one day, decide I'm not going into work and claim an "I don't have kids but I want a day off anyway" day?

Somewhat ironically, only the crap Sammy set of headphones that came with my mobile have a toggle - none of the rest ever did.
