Tesco Mobile has launched what it claims to be the UK's cheapest mobile phone contract. At £6 a month, the tariff highlights the growing demand for good value, no frills mobile deals insists the supermarket giant.
The tariff is available online and over the phone and offers unlimited texts and 100 minutes a month, as well as Clubcard points for those who collect them.
The £6 a month deal is offered on a one month SIM only contract.
"This deal is ideal for a younger market or any text addict out there who doesn't want to have to fork out a large amount each month but still wants to use their mobile to their hearts content," said Lance Batchelor, Chief Executive Officer of Tesco Mobile and Tesco Telecoms.
"We've seen a big increase in SIM only mobile tariffs as savvy spenders hang on to their handsets and shop around for the best tariffs available."
Recent research conducted by Tesco Mobile showed that less than 5 per cent of mobile contract users are currently able to spend less than £10 a month on their phone.
16 to 24 year olds, who are the most prolific texters are the highest spending age group for mobile contracts with just under a third - 31.6 per cent - spending more than £30 a month on their mobile bills insists Tesco.
Tesco Mobile found 77.6 per cent of mobile owners said monthly costs is the deciding factor in selecting a new tariff.
