£800 for jacking off? ![]() TBH I'd never do this - I don't want my DNA running around the country as someone else's kids. |

I remember ages ago one of the BBC reportage shows (pre The One Show) was investigating the trade is surrogate motherhood & egg donation. They got.. Sophie Raworth I think it was to ring up one of the agencies posing as someone interested in being paid to donate. Raworth gave them a few details - all of which were actually true about her - then listened for a couple of seconds, then this look of utter incredulity spread over her face and she said 'HOW MUCH???' I'd imagine it was fairly sizeable sum of cash, although I'd also imagine egg donation is a somewhat more uncomfortable procedure than sperm donation. Jon |

Try 'Life-threatening' instead of uncomfortable. |

Two things... Firstly, am I the only one who can't wait to see what bratty thinks of this? ![]() Secondly... How much?!? It seems a bit of a pity that I had a vasectomy now... this could have been my new career choice! ![]() |

I'd happily make 10 (even 20 over a period of time) deposits on the current system to pay for a new car I wouldn't though as to me the lack of anonymity is a killer, I don't want some kid getting my address and turning up on my doorstep feeling I owe them something for 10 minutes I spent 18 years previously with a copy of Razzle* * or Playboy, hustler etc, depends how classy the place is |

It is entirely the fact that I have no say over whether or not I want to be contacted if some recipient of my man juice drops a sprog 9 months down the line. New wheels, quality alone time, only person getting screwed is yourself... by you ![]() |

Now this is a tangent but the payment for donations got me thinking about this clicky. The NHS is saving millions because the cost of a litre of blood has reduced from £140 to £125. Now, wtf? Maybe I've just not thought about it but I thought the whole point was people donated for free to help out, what on earth is the £125 spent on? Who do they buy it off if not another part of the NHS, the ones who take the donations? Does someone actually make a profit out of it? Does it really cost over £100 to take 1 litre of blood? |

I'm only guessing but I would think that it could be covered by: 1. the admin of testing the donor for various illnesses etc... 2. taking the blood (with H&S forms to fill in and insurance etc...) 3. storing the blood Like I said though, I'm only guessing. It does sound quite steep though. |

I guess Lev feels, as I do, that we shouldn't be wasting money helping people have babies. If you can't do it without help, then Mother Nature is telling you something. I may be wrong in my assumption, so apologies all round if that's the case. |
