To stop my brother constantly annoying me with request to sort out his computer I have persuaded him to buy a Mac mini Yeah no more support questions, as I have explicitly told him I don't have the knowledge if he encounters any problems.

Hedge your bets and put it in all three.

I have several friends and family on Macs now. I am happy to offer support on them because a) I sort of know my way round them a bit b) They almost never have problems and c) Using the Apple screen sharing feature I can usually sort out stuff from home. I take the following tack. "If you buy a PC make sure you buy IT support at the same time because I won't touch them." Job done.

A common question aimed at me is, 'I can't get any songs onto my iPod, can you fix it?' 'No, it's iTunes and I don't go near that.'

There is what now? "I bagged a switcher thread"? You people really are weird! What's next? Blowing yourself up on London transport "for the cause"? I am very worried!!!

Hey! Bagging switchers is a popular sport in some circles. Can cause problems though if two Macalites have been trying to bag the same switcher. Who gets the credit? CC*Hmm, I have looked for a tongue firmly in cheek smilie but I can't seen to find one*.

Same here, but on Window, Linux and Mac. It freaked out my gf's eldest brother, when I got him to sign on for sharing and took over his mouse!

Now, that's random and, may I suggest, weird. You should feel at home.

Yes but it is also very extreme to get out of providing PC computer support.

Obviously. Though I have to say that I've found most Mac users I've been involved with to be mild-manners and polite. I don't think any of them would countenance anything violent "for the cause".

Quite. I've often found them to be the same.
