I'm curious to see if people here thought the Beeb leaned one way or the other, or if they think it still does.

I personally don't think it does (though some of their climate change reports are woefully one-sided, I know that much), but if it is gonna be biased, I'd rather it was to the left with the amount of government Murdoch supporters about in recent years ;)

Well, who'd've thunk it. Sky accusing the BBC of being biased to left.

Sky News accusing the BBC of a 'Massive Bias To The Left' is rather like being called a peacenik by Donald Rumsfeld: it's really not an insult.

The only way Sky could go further to the right is if a wormhole were to open and connect to the left.

well, when you have a respected political reporter effectively saying "sorry I didn't report the facts" then there has been a bias. Though we have to see if they are just as biased with the current set of "leaders" as the last.

Also, it's the DG himself saying there was a bias in the past :|

You do seem to find the left saying the BBC is leaning to the right and visa versa

I think it is slightly left of centre mainly due to the media types that end up working / running it - the "Chattering classes / Guardian reader". Afterall a lot of the jobs for the BBC are advertised mainly in the Guardian

I'll tell you what the BBC is guilty of - Massive Bias to Being Crap. Take the following example from this article named "Memristor revolution backed by HP":

Quote:
[Memristors] are considered to be the "missing link" in electronics, a fourth element to supplement the more familiar resistor, capacitor and inductor that together form the basis of every electronic device yet made.

That sentence alone contains so much fail that it's difficult for me to adequately express it.

I don't think the BBC is any more or less 'biased' in the political sense than any other broadcaster.
The political views of the staff are one thing but it's the output that has to be judged (and is) for political impartiality. Not something I would think Sky should be doing unless it wants something to come home to roost.

I agree it is only slightly left of centre. To be criticised by Sky is a compliment. The public generally are probably slightly left of centre, who love their welfare system and NHS though hope someone else will pay for it.
