OK I know that (for spelling)

Center is US
and
Centre is UK

However anyone know the convention (if there is one) on
Data Center / Data Centre

As its a "place" do we use the US spelling by convention of the UK

Thoughts?

FWIW Data Center is not hyphenated and so is two words; we (or I at least) am in England so IMHO it is Data Centre.

If we are two Nations divided by a common language, I'm on the East side of the pond! :)

In the UK it's always "centre" - be it a shopping centre, or the centre of the shopping centre.

This reminds me of an advert I saw near the McDonalds just off Western Avenue in Cardiff last week for some sort of trade supply business - I was most aggrieved to see they had used "center" in their business name, rather than "centre".

You'll find US-originated wholesalers like Plumb Center use the US spelling. It's a trademark, I suppose.

Still grinds my gears.

It should be spelt centre unless you're typing HTML, in which case, I'm sorry to say it's center.

Just earlier today, I nearly typed self-centered on here, but corrected myself. HTML bleeds through when typing. English is a living language, constantly evolving. Center or centre, does it REALLY matter? The hilarious part is, 'centre' is French anyway.

Does it really matter? It bloody well does to me! Is this yet another example of that Noah Bloomin' Webster changing spellings because "he didn't like them the way they were"?

I use centre myself but if someone uses center then I do not worry about it like a grammar nazi. ;)

Spelling is one thing but centre is still pronounced the same. Data and router wind me up more.
