My house (technically my parents' house) has a fairly long garden. About 3/5 of the way down, the lawn ends and there's a narrow path, either side of which are trees. The path leads up to a raised flat area. We've kind of neglected this bit since there's nothing there so we don't go down. The raised area is around 50cm elevated above the rest of the garden. Never ever thought about it nor questioned it but recently I downloaded the deeds or plans (can't remember which). There's a top-down view of the house. It clearly shows there was some kind of building at the back of the garden, where this elevated area is. I've lived in this house for my entire life (>25 years). My parents have lived here for thirty years. Neither know whether there was anything at the back. All of our old neoghbours who moght know have either died or moved away. It probably was a shed or something bu is there any way I can find out what was there? |

Could they have sought planning permission for it? Your local planning office would have records if they did. Failing that you might want to contact your local civic society to see if there are any old photos. |

damn, Id be so hysterical to find out what it actually is, reminds me of a similar story where someone had that and they dug it all out and it was an old nazi bunker and they found heaps of rusted rifles from the 40s etc, and all sorts of other war "treasure" there was even an old military vehicle buried too. If if is an old allied bunker or something try get one of those night vision wire cameras that will show u whats in it, thats if its an underground structure, Can you possibly take pics of what you see atm?

It's overgrown at the moment so pics wouldn't show anything useful. We've previously cleared the back of the garden, behined the grass but have trouble finding someone who could sort out the rest of it. My grandparents tried redoing their backyard a few years back and they encountered some hard stone. They were six feet deep stones. Tuned out to be the roof of an underground bunker. They tore it all up bu there was nothing to find/see. |

is it possible u can take any pics atall of this? im highly intrigued  theres a bunker in a "city" near in someones garden and its all decorated with flowerpots and stuff where the windows are, ill take pics... |

It's not a bunker, it's a pillbox. It's part of Britain's chain of defences thrown up early in World War 2 in case the Germans invaded. |
