I would cut back on food than stop broadband. Unlike grocery shopping, broadband is usually at a fixed rate 12-month contract. Change it to a PAYG model and things would be drastically different. |

I tend to eat better (as in, more healthily) when I'm a bit skint. When I've got money I tend to buy take aways and more fatty foods. So BB all the way for me! |

In fact I did. When I lost my job last year I stopped getting take-aways or having lunch out. It never even entered my head to get rid of broadband. I was using the internet to look for jobs. That would have been a nightmare on 56k dial up. |

I'm on one of the cheapest broadband packages available to me, so there's no room to cut back there. However, I'm lucky enough to be able to afford a few luxury food items. For example, I have some very nice smoked cheese in the fridge. I didn't need it, but I wanted it. There's £1.50 I could have saved right there, and more than half of my shopping costs are down to such items. In fact, probably 75% of my shopping is unhealthy luxury items I'd be better off without ![]() |

If you include money spent on alcohol, then I'd say about 75% of my spending is unhealthy luxuries, too. |

Broadband for me as well. Then at least I can shop for deals if necessary. |

Of course I'd cut back on food. There's always a cheaper alternative and offer led eating habits that can save money. Most people could shop cheaper and smarter than they do. |

If you're sat on your arse all night and all day browsing the internet or facebooking/twittering you technically need less food... |

Broadband & phone costs us £25/month, food shopping is usually ~£30/week but that'd with room to spare, we could quite easily drop the fizzy drinks and other things. I know someone who spent so much money on Manga and art materials that he only ever ate pasta and pesto for dinner... |

Contracts are 24 months here, so I'd have to pay a hefty penalty anyway. Plus, I'm currently looking for a job, 95% of the jobs I've found were only advertised in online portals, so not having broadband would make it much harder to find a job. I'd give up on going out for meals (we go out once or twice a month at the moment), then move to more basic brands and no more mood food (nuts, crisps, chocolate etc.)... |
