Thanks for the reply - that's an utter balls-up, isn't it? It's probably to do with rights in different countries regarding the special features I suppose, but there's little excuse for different quality versions of the film itself
Watched the final hour or so of the original on BBC1 last night - apart from some animatronics that were probably state of the art
at the time (and for it's budget)

, it's hard to fault the film at all. The stop-motion endoskeleton
still works in it's own way, and on watching the film over again, it's actually amazing
just how much interest Arnie gives you in a humourless cyborg killer
