OK, so you have to give one up... I'd give up my mobile, as it's mostly used for inane/joke texts as boredom relief in work, and anyone who wants me could phone my house or email me ![]() The TV stays cos I can use my PS3 for gaming, iPlayer, emails, films... ![]() Which would you ditch if you had to (you can change your vote if need be)? |

Given that I haven't had a TV for the past few years I'd say TV. |

Both. I've lived without both over the years and it wouldn't bother me to give up either or both. |

I barely watch TV these days. 90% of the time I'm watching some kind of repeat show, whether it be Family Guy, Top Gear, Friends, Scrubs or some other shows. The only thing that I watch that isn't a repeat is the news, which I can get from the BBC News website. My TV set is something I use for playing on the PS3, so as long as I could still do this, I'd be content without a live TV. Otherwise I'd have to get a monitor + speaker setup for the PS3. With my mobile, I tend to use it for texts over calls but internet access over all of that. Because of work, I need to be able to access emails regularly. Also because I save emails, I can refer back for rotas etc. |

I could probably give up both. I do not use the mobile that much except to make calls. I could do that via landline or skype. I can also download TV if it was good enough via iPlayer. |

Mobile. It's easy enough to email everybody or skype if you need to. My mobile isn't very mobile, I like to have peace and quiet when I travel, like I used to before mobiles. Between a TV and a PC then the TV. |

TV. I can catch everything I want to via the internet, but my 'phone is pretty essential for e-mail, SMS etc. |

TV. A friend of mine has been without a TV for years, but his other half is going for a job as a compliance lawyer for a certain channel, and they won't even interview if you don't have a TV licence, so he's had to relent and buy one. Not happy about it. |

Already have given up TV, and for 8 months now, a mobile. |

I watched some TV today. It was really just a waste of time, although I do now know more about Michael Jackson's relationship with Bubbles. I used my phone today for some important lovey-dovey stuff. Tomorrow I'll be using it to work, which pays the bills and keeps a roof over my head. In the past, I've used my phone to call the AA roadside assistance, call the ambulance to rescue a stranger passed out on the floor and to call for an emergency pizza while stranded at a friend's flat with an empty fridge. Bit of a no-brainer really, unless you're a loveless unemployed couch potato who never leaves the house. Which, in all fairness, I have been. No shame in it, provided it's just a sabbatical. Some people practice martial arts on a Chinese mountain; others watch day-time TV. We all need to "find ourselves". |

The TV over the summer months is pretty dire. The TV companies know that TV is a marginal interest when the weather is nice. It does improve over the autumn. It does get stupid when all the channels have a decent TV schedule for Christmas. |

TV. I've not had a TV for the last four years and don't have one now, I don't really miss it tbh. |

I'd give up the mobile. I can Skype people if I need to, but watching Doctor Who on a 4" screen? Nah! |

I'd happily give up 24 hour news for nothing. They're just channels of gossip and paranoia. |

As the 80's proved, I can live without a mobile but I can't live without a TV. A landline is good enough. |
