How many of you have eaten 'raw' jelly - ie without dissolving it and setting it?

Just had some raspberry jelly. Didn't know whether to throw up or not but I still managed to finish the lot!

Undiluted Rowntree's Strawberry jelly is very nice. Eating it raw is the only way to actually get some flavour.

I used to eat a strip of it before races back when I used to swim competitively…

I've been eating the 'ready-made' little tubs of that with ice-cream recently - goes down a treat with Tesco's own brand vanilla ;)

I think most people have :)

Even when I was a kid, my mum would let me have one cube when she was making some. I also remember a "make" on a kids show where they covered the cubes in chocolate and stuff to make sweets.

I bet I'm the only one here who's tried to make "wine" out of it though

Also, mixed with the 99.8% Polish vodka makes an excellent alcoholic trifle

When I was doing long walks a few years back I would take a packet per day, they pack more of a punch than mars bars, and though I love them, the amount of mars bars I ate while walking, well, let's just say it played havoc with the whole digestive system

I quite liked it, used to take strawberry and sometimes lime...

I loved it as a kid. My mum used to wonder where the packs were disappearing to from the cupboard.

I always dissolve it, unlike some others here I can still taste the flavour! I can't stand jelly in its "raw" form.

Yep, I used to nick it from the cupboard and eat it from the packet. It was lovely.

Can you still get it like that?

You can buy crystals in little packets.

I never had jelly cubes, as it would cause asthma problems. My mum used to make jelly out of fruit juice and gelatine or pectin, which I liked.

Maybe it's a sign of old age but there are few things in life which are quite as good as lying, (or sitting up) in bed on a saturday night watching Match of the day whilst eating a bog bowl of Strawberry jelly.

:D
