My father had the saloon Granada when I was young. I still remember it fondly and keep thinking about getting one as a classic project.

Whilst on holiday my main lens broke so I took my Helios-44 to the beach. It's older than I am and fully manual so not the easiest thing to use. Saying that I was pleasantly surprised with some of the photos. This one in particular came out well. On The Beach by Philip Veater, on Flickr

Lenses don't have to be new and full of electronic jiggery pokery to be good.
I used to take some excellent pictures with my old Praktika MTL3, 50mm Zeis lens and 2x and 3x telephoto converters (usually all 3 at the same time when at motor sport events). Using film, I think I thought a lot more about the composition of a shot. Today, I often find myself just snapping away and taking the best of the results, but it is often only when I fall back into old-fogey mode that I get really good shots, because I actually take the time to properly frame the shot and adjust the settings properly.

I was at Wheelgate Park in Nottinghamshire on the Bank Holiday and took my new K3II & 16-85 to give it its first proper outing. It was a miserable day and most photos are family album stuff but in the animal houses I tried to grab a few better shots. A huge Iguana was playing nice so I got up against the glass and fired a few shots off. This one I liked because the angle it was taken at gives the impression the Iguana is smiling.
