OK, what the actual f*ck?!?!
It was getting very good and then I couldn't really work out what happened in the end?!
Were they all dead from the beginning of season 1? Did they all die on the island (i.e. Jin and Sun in the sub, Locke falling off the cliff, etc...) What about the people on the plane?
Just what?!?!

No they survived lived out what happened on the island and died trying to getting off just as we watch it. The wreckage at the end was the six trying to escape on a plane rigged to blow.....

The show held little interest for me at all, but I'd be interested to know what the general consensus was in terms of, 'Was it worth it?' Maybe a poll?

OK, having thought about it and let it settle I'm beginning to like it more and more May have to watch it again though It was very emotional (although I don't cry at films etc...) but I imagine some people would. Given that the plane at the end was the Ajira plane not the Oceanic one (I'm not too sure it was though) it all rounds off nicely. The flash sideways throughout the season was actually a flash forwards. I just wish it had answered a few more of the questions like what the hell was a polar bear doing on the island and what did the numbers mean?!

Another spin on it could be –
Oceanic 815 did indeed crash with no survivors; the ones left on the island are in limbo between heaven and hell because of their lonely paths through life. To move forward they have had to changing this path into a more meaning one or resolve the issue of being in limbo……. They are all collective on the limbo island (others joining them etc) so ended up working together and so end up passing over together at the end.

I like this more. I'll have to watch again but I am almost certain that the plane at the end is the Oceanic plane. The fuselage and engine were in the same place as when they originally crashed.

I just feel let down as virtually nothing was explained. I thought it was a really lame ending. We all knew that it had something to do with life and death. I can't type all the unanswered questions as there are just so many, I'd be here all day – we didn't even find out who "the others" are. It's easier to list what was answered:
1. What was behind the hatch. 2. What the black smoke was. 3. How the Black Rock made it to the island.
And they were answered long ago.

In some ways, I wish I had. This column pretty much sums up my feelings about it.

I think the thing that bugs me is that I thought they had some sort of overall plan before they started. The middle was a bit crap because they were forced to do so many extra series, but I thought they'd bring it back to whatever the original plan was. The finale makes it clear, however, that they were just making it up as they went along and didn't know any more than we did.
I mean for God's sake, we still don't even know what the effing island was.

I think I agree with this. I can imagine the pilot briefing went something along the lines of... "Dudes, I've thought of a show, it starts with a plane crash on a deserted island, only it's not deserted, it has a polar bear on it. And then some evil people are there too, and weird sh*t starts to happen, and a hatch and err... stuff." "Cool, so how does it all end." "Ahh, I haven't got that far yet" "Cool, let's start filming it!"

I agree with the article above also that the finale started brilliantly and I absolutely loved it and I actually got to the point where I had a "revelation" that the island was making them forget that they were still on the island in order to stop them from leaving! Fricking awesome!
They all had to work together after being divided so that they could finally leave the island!
Then they were all fracking dead!!!!
WTF!

If only life was that simple with everything explained on a plate for us, fundamentally the ending is how each of us envisages it. We all construe each scenario differently so why should the ending be any different?
Edit - we all have different ideas about death and what happens next right?
