Post subject:  Car insurance
Just rang my insurer to change from fully comp to 3rd party fire and theft and they told me it would actually increase the annual premium by nearly £100. I said that didn't make sense and to explain it and she said 'Oh well it's system generated and I can't tell you why'

What bollox! How bizarre!

Now going to phone round some other companies to get quotes. If anyone can recommend one let me know.

With Direct Line at the mo and thinking of going to LV and I've heard good reviews about them.

I had been with Direct Line for about six years, but I moved to Hastings Direct this year. Lower cost and lower excess. :D

I can believe the cost different. When I went from 3rd party, fire and theft on a ten year old micra, to fully comp with proctected no claims on a brand new corolla, the price increase was only £90 per year.

Are you all sure that Caz didn't mean Can insurance, as in "canning it or ditching it, (from that company) because it's so bad"?

Moved from Direct LIne to Swift Cover a couple of years ago. Saved me a good £300 or so (despite the car I drive) - both policies are fully comp.

I'm with Diamond (girlies' insurance), which is part of Admiral. Fairly reasonable prices.

Thanks for amending the title. I've got some quotes and can save about £100 a year. Still got about 10 days to shop about.

Just spoke to my colleague and he said 3rd party is high demand which is why the insurers make it more expensive and fully comp cheaper. Well you learn something every day!

Surely it's only high demand because it's cheaper and people don't want to fork out for fully comp?!?!

They've never done that with me. I used my real phone number too. Normally I put in fake details (except email address) the first time so they can't spam me. Obviously I use my correct age, car, no claims etc.
