I have had a pair glasses for a while now - maybe two years. Recent eye test is fine but the glasses I use aren't. Everything on the glasses are great apart from the rubber that goes over the arms (and rests on the ears). These are starting to break off the arms, making them uncomfortable to wear. I don't want new frames and don't need new lenses. Hence all I want are the arms or just the rubber to be replaced. I have some tinted ones but don't want to use them unless it's a real emergency. Any ideas? |

What about these guys - they refer to the plastic/rubber part as "Temple Tips" and is included in their "Glasses Overhaul" service...
I do have a spare pair of these plastic tips somewhere that came with some replacement nose pads as I lost one, not sure what colour they are though (I think either light brown or clear). Not sure how easy they are to remove the old ones and refit though - I suspect you have to apply some heat to them to make them a bit more flexible first. Will see if I can find them, they're yours if you want them, just PM me if the colour's OK and let me know your address details. |

I've just emailed them before I posted this thread. It's one of those situations where you don't know whether the website's any good and so look for recommendations. |

Well, I've not used them, but I have bought cheap glasses as a spare pair from Glasses on Spec before. Not sure if they do repairs, but could be worth asking. I found Glasses on Spec's customer service really good - as I said, I lost one of the clear plastic nose pads on this spare pair and requested a replacement nose pad - they send me 2 full sets of nose pads, temple tips and screws at no charge. Great after-sales service. Just found the 2 sets of temple tips I have, one pair's light brown and the other pair's dark brown (almost black) - they come completely straight, so probably need to be bent into the right shape before fitting. Let me know if you one one of these pairs. |

if you got them from a shop, just go in and ask for some, there so inexpensive that they usually do them for free (well they did when I lost one of the nose tip things) however all glasses are different, so its probably more worth while searching around for the make of your glasses and seeing if there are any, id still recommend going into the shop though |

Even Specsavers do decent after-sales care if you walk in. At the very least, they give you a free lens cloth even if your specs are 5 years old ![]() |

Probably help if you have the receipt, but provided you're nice to the staff then if you ask for help they should advise you. I guess it probably varies from branch to branch, but mine has always been keen to keep it's customers. Not that I go often enough to make it a statistically significant sample! |

The spectacles are over two years old! Bugger knows where the receipt is. I used to keep all 'minor' receipts in a carrier bag and all 'major' ones in a folder but I bought the specs soon after returning home so don't know where it got stored. Thanks for the info though. |

I took some back to Specsavers when I was in town one day and a screw came loose. They fixed it there and then. No receipt. |

+1. I needed replacement nose-cushions on my specs and was happy to buy them; walked in to my local specsavers and they replaced them gratis - and I didn't buy the specs from them either... Pete |

+1 My missus has done the same thing. Most high street opticians are pretty good at fixing small problems on the spot. |
