I have a watch. I wear it occasionally.

I had to wear it when I was in the Drudge Factory earlier this year, because they didn't allow mobiles on the factory floor.

I also wear it if I'm out photosnapticating, because the phone will be lost in a pocket or bag somewhere, and will take ages to dig out and wake from power-saving slumber. A quick glance at the wrist tells me the time. One day I might be able to glance at the length of shadows and tell the time by the sun - if it's out... :geek:

Sitting here sofa-surfing, or at my desk, there's no point in wearing a watch because right now I can see five various timepieces. Oh, and the cats can tell the time to within a few minutes - they let us know when it's time for food! :D

I had a car accident some years ago which you could say smashed the crap out of my left wrist. Operations, pins, bits of metal etc. Very tedious business. As a result I couldn't actually wear a wrist watch for several years, as it chaffed against the scar tissue too much. I've only recently (last year or two) got back into doing so after someone bought me a very nice watch as a present and it seemed ungrateful not to wear it.

However even now I often find myself forgetting I've got one on and using other sources to get the time. Given I'm often either in front of a computer or in a car and generally have at least two gadgets with me that show the time on their 'home screen', I never actually feel I need to have the watch on. In fact I often don't, as I still sometimes forget to put it on in the morning.

I've just bought one. Using a mobile is inefficient in time critical situations and I don't ALWAYS have my mobile in my pocket or hand.

Like most things "killed" by the digital age, I suspect it'll be a slow death, if at all.

I used to wear one when out but then stopped for a reason I can not remember now. I have barely worn a watch in ten years. Though I do plan on getting a nice Swiss watch at some point.

I wore a wrist watch all through secondary school and through most of Uni. I stopped wearing one when I was at Sun and I would take it off because typing with a wrist watch was irritating, but I kept working through my lunch break...

I now carry a pocket watch on me almost all the time.

I have 2. A mobile isn't a good alternative. I Don't always have my iPhone with me and when I do, I need to get it out of my pocket and turn it on. With a watch, I need to quickly flip my wrist, at most.

I have always worn a watch since I could tell the time. I have in the last ten years had two different models of Casio digital watch.

The first was a dive watch waterproof to 200M, which leaked and eventually died.

The second was an everyday watch waterproof to 50M, which means water resistant. This watch actually leaked in the RAIN, when my sleeve got wet. So much for that.

As a result, I won't be buying Casio again and they are pretty much the only mass makers of digital watches on the market, so I have recently gone with a Sekonda analogue watch and it confuses me all the time, despite the fact that I am surrounded by analogue clocks at home. :lol:

I need an accurate reliable time piece in my day to day work and I won't be giving up my watch any time soon.

I had some el cheapo wristwatches when I was in primary school.
I had my first decent wristwatch in preparation for secondary school.
I had some decent watches whilst at university.

But now, since i've been working, I haven't worn a watch. Work demands a bare-below-the-elbows policy which, despite having no evidence for it, means I can't wear a wristwatch. Hence over the last 3-4 years that I've been working, I've never worn a watch at work. It's easy to continue with this habit at the weekend and thence on annual leave and days off. Consequently, the one watch I bought for work was worn for a sum of two months before being relegated to a drawer where it remains unloved. I saw it recently and the battery is dead and needs replacing but I haven't gotten round to it and suspect I won't for some time.

Having said all that, I have a watch that was bought for my 21st and I always wear that at interviews/weddings/special occasions etc. I have changed the battery on that recently!
