Sounds fun. When I was on a road trip in patagonia we found some deserted salt flats in Chile, we looked at each other, then at the salt flat, then spent 2 hours doing drifts and handbrake turns with banana grins. Oh yes. |

Always worth learning to control a car under whatever conditions, however, the public roads maybe aren't the best place to do this. That said, when I learnt to drive my instructor did take me out in a blizzard and taught me to control a skid on snow, in a residential street, cars down both sides. Drifting on ice mean's you've broken traction, which means you're not actually in control of the car, which means you're somewhat at the mercy of momentum. I've already seen one barry boy locally stack it on a bend merely because he failed to brake soon enough in the wet. Oh, the winter should be fun again. |

I'd wait until you sober up first. In all seriousness it should be part of the driving test. In Scandinavia they have to do a skidpan component in order to pass. If it's on private ground nobody can tell you not to. |

It's always good (fun) to pick up skills for driving in adverse or unfamiliar conditions. Just make sure there is minimal risk and little chance of liability. |

Good old rear wheel drive how I miss it........ I can remember spending the night plowing up a massive car park of fresh snow in my old MK5 Cortina, now that was fun. Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk |

Please tell me that is sarcasm? Please, it's bad enough with iPads etc. without everyone else climbing aboard the smugwagon. |

Sounds like fun but definitely not on a public road. Apart from anything else the terms of your insurance may not cover it so if something did go wrong you'd be looking at paying for it out of your own pocket. IIRC when I was learning, we used supermarket car parks after they'd closed for things like this. Trouble is now all the supermarkets near me are pretty much 24hour...
