So how about you?

My dad might be an utter arsehole, but he knows his tech (or will at least figure it out), and I can generally do the same*. This has also made me 'the resident tech geek', an experience I'm sure many here are familiar with

I look forward to a time when everyone will be tech-savvy, cos it's coming I believe, and I'm often struck by how I've seen a lot of tech (industrial and commercial) essentially become mass-market in my time :)

* Certain bits of software and descriptive terms try my patience though.

It'll never happen. There are still people who can't drive, can't swim, can't catch a ball, can't read and write or even speak English and lots of other skills that have been around a lot longer than "tech".

My dad knows more about Radar and aircraft landing systems than me, certainly.

I'm thinking "a particular 50% of the population" for those three..

Well the majority of the world can't read or write English because they don't have to. The real problem is large parts of the world's population can't read or write their own native language, which is more of a problem IMO.Tech really should be fairly low down the list of things we should strive to make sure everyone in the world has access to. I mean, let's start with clean water and shelter and work from there...

I was thinking more of the people that will grow up with tech, have a 'grounding' in it if you will.

i cant wait until evolution kicks in. at some point in the future, we will all have 10 long fingers, with either with 5 joints or no bones at all, on our left hand (for speedy 1-handed keyboard use), and the right hand will have morphed into a semi-sphere (with small indent for the scroll wheel) that fits perfectly around a computer mouse :D

My dad was a tad more "techy" than me around the time of the explosion in the popularity of mobile phones. This was around the time when the local mobile phone shops were doing ridiculous deals like buy one contract+phone and get a second contract+phone for free or other such silly deals. Meant at one time, he had the latest and greatest phones.
