Post subject:  Travel/Interview Advice

I have to get to Luton later this week for an job interview/assessment day. Whether I take the 5 and 4 or 303 it'll be a 6hr drive. Thing is, a hotel is minimum £60 for the night and it'll already be costing me £90+ for the fuel and I just don't have the money atm. So my question is, were you me, would you leave here at 0230 and drive straight there? Or is that plain mental?

It's an all day affair 0900 - 1600ish, so obviously coming home, I'd be exhausted. But I'm wondering if the adrenaline etc. of the day would keep me going enough to complete the day.

Thoughts?

Driving there so early will leave you in no fit state for the interview, and in an even worse state for the trip home. Adrenaline is good for snap decisions, but not intelligent ones.

You're welcome to crash at my place. I live 5 minutes off M1 Junction 16 / 15a, which is 45 minutes from Luton on a good run.

I was just going to post about someone in the area being able to put you up.

My work here is done. :D

I love this place.

Have a go with thishttp://www.transportdirect.info/Web2/Home.aspx?repeatingloop=Y for working out method of transport etc.

Hotels well some listed here are £35http://www.laterooms.com/en/r11432_hotels-in-luton.aspx

If you intend arriving to start the day knackered I doubt it will be a good investment in your future.

Stay at JJ's the night before if he's happy and travel straight back to Kernow following the interview.

Northampton is well handy for the South East and for the Midlands.

I am just looking around Normandy for a driving holiday over the summer. It could be very handy.

No I would not. It is very useful though, maybe that is why they do not advertise it because of complaints from the commercial operators, like last minute.com.

Innit.

Thanks JJ. If you're sure that's cool, that would be really helpful.

Of course it's cool. Doesn't cost me anything to open a door, and it's always good to meet a fellow forumite.

PM sent with details - let me know if you don't get it.

If you want to come by public transport I can probably give you a lift, but it depends on times and stuff. Check out thetrainline and see if there's any really good prices available. MK Central is usually the best station to use around here.

Right folks, at some point in the next 3-4hrs I shall embark upon a cross-country voyage. I'm gonna stay at JJ's and then have my all day interview tomorrow. My suit is ready, I'm packed and just putting the finishing touches to my paperwork and prep. I even shaved my beard! Please could I ask you guys for some positivity and good vibes for the journey and tomorrow? Thank you.
