Former Blue Peter presenter Matt Baker is going to be presenting The One Show - the graveyard of TV hosts.

I watched a couple of those programmes. I cannot understand what it is for or what its function is. It just seemed to meander aimlessly around for 30 minutes like a stunned cat.

I've never heard of this 'so called baker'. Did he have a cookery show or something. ;)

If he did I can't imagine it'd be a very glossy show. (8+)

He does “yokel interest” TV now, ie. “Country File”.

I like countryfile.
It's interesting to note it's rise to prime-time BBC TV.

They're desperate, clearly.

That's one way to look at it I suppose.

I think there's been a bit of a push towards earthy/whimsical output with the Beeb in recent years - something has to combat the unrelenting cheesiness I guess :(

I love Matt Baker and enjoy the One Show.

Why is it a graveyard for hosts? Adrian and Christine have gone on to earn millions. If that's a graveyard I'd love to work there!

Their exits were not happy ones, were they? They were practically pushed out, and the iTV show they present is not doing well.

The One Show is bound to appeal to different people at different times. Take last night, for example: first, two old farts wittering on about art (or something) that they were famous for [LIFTED] ages ago- which was of no interest to me whatsoever and then- cue massive change- it was rabies! which I did find interesting.

I watch the One Show when I'm around at that time of day doing nothing much, but it's not going to appeal to all of the people all of the time.

To be fair they're competing against Sian and Bill, that's a tall order.

Pushed? No Adrian made his own decision to quit after the decided they wanted to put Chris Evans on Fridays and Christine quit when the Beeb had not matched the offer from ITV when her contract was due for renewal.

Pushed to me means you're sacked and neither of them were sacked.
