Whenever there is a fly past over London, it passes very close to where I live. So I nipped out with a video camera and tried to capture it.

I missed the first group, which were Typhoons I believe. It’s hard to tell where they come from, and my spotter was painting windows, so there was one less pair of eyes scanning the horizon.

I also did not get the Battle of Britain flight. They do fly past where I live too, but on a more northerly route, so I could see them, but they were not easily filmed from the location I was in.

Nice camera work Paul!

There is a show in Farnborough (I think) every summer, they use the Sun campus as a marker in the woods to tell them to turn around...
I spent a lot of my admin course outside as the trainer loved watching the things...

I don't know if it was related or not, but when I was down at the garage this afternoon, I saw a Lancaster bomber fly right overhead, couldn't have been more than 1000ft up. Was quite impressive.

Of course, my camera was at home. :(

That’s what my other half said I should do. I’m not sure if I can – but I guess it can’t hurt to ask.

Yes.... nice camera work Paul.

I love planes and airshows. Unfortunately the lat time I was able to get to one was RAF Waddington in 2005. It was a cracker though !

Must be nice to have your own private one every now and then :|

One year (2002), we had Concord flying right over the hose with the Red Arrows. Here is the video I made of it. It’s rather small by today’s standards. If I can find the tape it’s on, or the DVD the project is on, I should be able to YouTube it.

The tree you see is outside the house. I’m standing on the green facing it. I didn’t get all the fly past as I didn’t know it was happening until the last moment. You could see the whole line of aircraft into the distance. Quite incredible.

Don’t get me going on Concorde, built with British tax payers money handed to BA and then dumped by BA, Virgin offered to take the fleet off their hands but in good old BA style virgin got the birdie and we lost a national treasure. :x

I saw the red arrows do a thirty minute show this weekend, which was nice. I see them regularly though, they normally do at least one show a year in Bournemouth, and with the air show last year they were in the sky pretty much all weekend lol

Lots of my friends had never seen them before and they were absolutely in awe - they were loving it! :D

There was a Hurricane fly-past at Bletchley Park on Sunday. I hadn't got the long lens, though. Most annoyed.

No, in true RB style he made an offer, which could be easily refused. But would get him and the Virgin brand the maximum exposure. BA knew it was a non feasible offer, so said "bugger off beardie".
If you want to see a Concorde go to Brooklands.

We had the Lancaster bomber flying over Grantham last week. It did a few laps and left. I couldn't find my camera in time which pi**ed me off. I would have got some great pics if I did as it was a nice evening and it was flying quite low. The noise those Rolls-Royce Merlin engines get me every time I hear them. I think it was on a test flight as no fly past was scheduled - http://www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/displayinfo/ . RAF Coningsby is nearby (the memorial flights home - they were stationed at RAF Barkston Heath from 2002 to 2004, right near my old workplace) and the RAF seem to use St Wulframs church in Grantham as a reference point - the spire is 282 feet - so when the fly boys are around they seem to fly over my house (I'm near the church).
